Leesburg Optimist Club

Friend of Youth

About Us - in Words & Pictures!

The Leesburg Optimist Club was founded in 1976 as an autonomous club operating under the guidance of Optimist International, a world-wide organization dedicated to the betterment of youth established in 1919, which all started from the first official Optimist Club in Buffalo, NY in 1911.

The Leesburg Optimist Club provides opportunities for youth in the Leesburg, VA area to grow, build self-confidence, gain respect for law, and become future leaders of the community.

The Club is made up of local residents in the community who volunteer their time and talents to serve the youth of the community through several activities and events sponsored by the club throughout the year.  We also partner with other organizations in the community with a similar focus to help further their efforts.

The Club meets at 8:00am on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month At Deli South for breakfast to discuss and plan Club activities.  If becoming an Optimist interests you, come to a meeting and we’ll treat you to breakfast.  See the Directions page for more information.

Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself –

·         To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

·         To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

·         To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

·         To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

·         To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

·         To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

·         To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

·         To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

·         To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

·         To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
